Displaced medical students from JNIMS, RIMS who undergo MBBS training and PG Course but unable to continue their studies as the government fails to make an alternative arrangement for them have participated in large numbers.
Displaced NIT and Nursing students besides dental students who could not continue their studies have also participated in the rally in large numbers.
They are demanding an alternative arrangement to nearby states from the government so that they may be able to continue their studies. This happens despite the fact that their counterpart students in Imphal are taking classes without conducting semester examinations.
Other points of protest in the rally include burning of documents / certificates, properties / study materials and their belongings and more particularly the burning of certificates by one Sintha Nganba Lourembam which has been viral in various social media groups recently. In the memorandum to the union home minister Amit Shah they appealed for establishment of a Central University in Lamka, Churachandpur District, establishment of technical and other higher educational institutes in the hill districts, disbursal of funds and benefits under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and other Ministries for tribal empowerment to organizations based in the hill districts and headed by tribals, to expedite the completion of Churachandpur Medical College (CMC) being undertaken at Mata Village and to streamline classes at the temporary centre at Headquarter Veng.
